I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant to try Happy Buns because of the low Yelp rating (2.5 stars at the time), but I’m so glad I gave it a chance, my experience was fantastic! We ordered the pork fried buns, vegetable dumplings, crab rangoon, and lettuce wraps, and every dish was delicious. The food came out fresh and piping hot, served as it was ready, which I really appreciated. Service was excellent, too! My drink was never less than half full, and the manager personally stopped by twice to check on us. It’s clear they’ve listened to past feedback and made real improvements. I left full, happy, and already looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend giving this place a try for yourself, you might be just as pleasantly surprised as I was! ~ Ashley S

Give them a shot! We've been here 3 times since they opened and we will back again and again. The food is great! Going with a group and trying everything is definitely my recommendation. It gives a small bites type feel. These negative reviews don't reflect our experience at all. The restaurant is small and there is always a line waiting for a table. The waiters and waitresses are just young kids. They are doing a great job, this place is always 100% full and they run non stop! The food is fabulous. We have tried the entire menu and not one item was bad. The wait can be long but once the hype dies down that should level out. Its a brand new restaurant, its going to have kinks. Especially when its filled to capacity every minute their open! This is an asset to Mansfield and Im so glad to have them! ~ JustSayIts V

Many of the negative reviews seem to focus on service, but keep in mind this spot is still new and working on improvements. I personally thought the staff were really nice and welcoming, and you could tell they were trying to do their best. I have tried many Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants in DFW and although the food didn’t come out all at the same time, the food itself was surprisingly good - flavorful and well-prepared. The menu is full of delicious authentic dishes and currently my favorites are the spicy garlic cucumbers, pork soup dumplings (tasted even better dipped in the cucumber sauce), and salted egg custard buns. I highly recommend giving this place a chance - I know I’ll be coming back to try more dishes! ~ Connie W

Had to give this place a try, and I have to say the food was spot on in terms of authenticity—definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. That said, I’d suggest giving them a little time to fine-tune the service, particularly when it comes to providing standard table items without having to ask. For example, Chinese soup spoons should automatically be offered with soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao)—this is standard at all Asian restaurants and essential for enjoying them properly. A spoon and fork should also be readily available, since not every dish requires chopsticks. These are small service details that, once refined, will really elevate the overall experience. I don't say this lightly—this place has officially become my new favorite restaurant! From the moment I walked in, everything was spot-on: the atmosphere, the service, and especially the food. Every dish was bursting with flavor and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. You can taste the difference. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, which just made the whole experience even better. Whether you're going for a casual night out or something a little more special, this spot delivers in every way. The wife located this restaurant on TikTok and shared it with me. I am going to say that the food we ordered was pretty darn good. I don’t get paid to eat at places so I already knew for four (4) people that was going to be a large bill…(And it was..lol). Plus, they do not offer military discount either just a fyi…. Even with the food coming out at various times really did not bother us it gave us time to enjoy the other foods before the table became too crowded. Service was great and never had to ask for a refill cause she was changing them quickly. Atmosphere was on point as well..Clean restrooms, tables and floors. We will have to come back without the little ones. Side Note: The Soju took me back to the time I was stationed in Korea. I’m not going to tell any stories about that one..lol..Thank you for getting me to remember my younger years. ~ David J

Do not let the other reviews sway you from trying this restaurant! We enjoyed everything and found the price is comparable to other restaurants. The service was great and the restaurant is cute. The bartender made some killer drinks too! This is going on rotation for us. Recommend the crab Rangoon, pork soup dumplings and the spicy noodle. We had the zah jiang noodles, it was something we never had before. It was fresh but just wasn't our thing, maybe it's yours? I'm very happy I can get soup dumplings so close to home!! The only thing I would suggest is for the restaurant to get wider soup spoons for the dumplings. ~ Patty L

We went in tonight and were greeted by the sweetest waitress who instantly made our evening. She mentioned it was only her third day waiting tables, but you would’ve never guessed it. Her communication was spot-on, she checked on us regularly, and carried herself with such confidence and kindness it truly left us impressed. While the kitchen was running a little behind, she handled everything with grace and kept us updated, which made the wait feel minimal. My wife ordered two of their make-it-lemon drop cocktails and absolutely raved about them. For food, we enjoyed the spicy wontons, spicy noodles with pork, and the pan-fried thumblings all packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. On top of everything, our waitress had the most genuine, radiant smile that made the whole dining experience even better. We can’t wait to come back and hope we’re lucky enough to have her as our server again! ~ Richard G

Tried the scallion pancakes, crushed garlic cucumbers, crab rangoons, thumblings, bbq pork bao, beef soup dumplings, pork drunken noodles, red bean dessert buns, and the crepe cake. Everything was very good, but the red bean buns were not my favorite, which was sad as I love red bean sweets. The cucumbers were a table favorite, as were the drunken noodles and bbq pork bao. The service we received was excellent, our waitress was a very sweet girl, checked in often to clear away empty plates. Accommodating and patient. She was a delight. I ordered the beef noodle soup and the chicken soup dumplings. I really enjoyed the beef noodle soup. It was delicious and hearty, I would get it again. Unfortunately there is one star off because the soup dumplings hardly have any soup in them. Our server was very nice & attentive. I wish I could remember her name. I would like to offer feedback to one of the managers because she was scolding one of the servers right next to our table: Please take your servers to the back and advise them privately… It’s rude not only to customers, but to your employees. Our waiter, Gilbert M. was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we sat down, he was attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome. He knew the menu well, gave great recommendations, and checked in at just the right times to make sure everything was perfect. Drinks were always full, food came out smoothly, and the whole experience felt effortless thanks to his excellent service. Went for the first time today and LOVED IT!!! I was hesitant with the reviews but figured it was because they were newly opened and still figuring things out, SO glad I didn’t listen to the reviews. The food was amazing, service was amazing, and the whole place is so cute! Thrilled to have a soup dumpling place close by! We decided to try this spot for takeout after seeing it on TikTok. It did not disappoint! The pork soup dumplings and pork pan-fried buns are a must try, absolutely delicious! We also had the spicy wontons, orange chicken, and beef short ribs, which were all super tasty. Everything was packaged really well and still warm by the time my husband brought it home. I was excited to try the spicy tossed noodles, but they were sold out, so it just gives us another reason to come back and try more from the menu next time! ~ Elizabeth Z

We tried Happy Buns in Mansfield during their soft opening and absolutely loved it! I had the orange chicken, which came with a little bowl of white rice, so tasty and perfectly cooked. My daughter ordered the wonton soup and said it was the best she’s ever had! She also had the fried shrimp rice, which was just as delicious. Since they’re in their soft opening, please give them a little grace as they find their groove. The food was fantastic, and we can’t wait to come back with the rest of the family! ~ Jessica G

went here with a group of friends for dinner, the wait wasn’t too long for a saturday night, the atmosphere and overall vibe of the restaurant was amazing. our server, emma was fast, efficient and super nice/helpful! the food was AMAZING! the green beans and the spicy wontons were too die for!! ate family style so we tried a bunch of different food and everything was delicious. on top of that, the price wasn’t bad at all! we all cannot wait to come back! ~ Lauren B

This place was so good and so amazing. We came for the first time and it was literally amazing some of the best food I have had in such a long time. It came fast and the staff was so nice and friendly. The inside is so so so pretty as well and so cozy. The food was so good and fresh. We got the pork soup dumplings, combo fried rice, spicy edamame, and the bbq pork buns and it was so good like insanely good. Please please please come here like its that good. ~ emma D

Food was excellent from the pork buns and soup dumplings to the main course of orange chicken and beef short ribs. Any lags in service could easily be contributed to the overwhelming line of dine-in customers and carry-out orders for a newly opened restaurant. Would disregard the negative reviews as there are apparently a lot of impatient folks these days, the food was well worth the wait. Had an amazing lunch with my wife. The menu has everything you want and more. We ordered the crab rangoon, steamed chicken buns and the pork soup dumplings. The rangoon was freshly made by hand. fried to perfection! The chicken buns where soft and fluffy and extremely delicious. Pork soup dumplings sealed it for me. the burst of flavor and goodness eating those makes your body feel is something I will never forget. Stellar service. Excellent food. I think this place is awesome ! This place is even better then the dimsum places I have ate in Chinatown London (and I ate almost every one there ) I think people need to research and realize it’s a patience thing for this type of food , dimsum usually takes around 15 minutes to make so please yall understand this! This place is good and finally get to have Zhajiangmian, this is definitely my go to place when I come from travelling , can’t wait to come again! ~ Qxeenbxlla

So excited to have Happy Buns just 5 minutes away! 🙌 No more long drives to Southlake just to get my dumpling fix. The chili wontons and other sides were amazing, and the orange chicken was a solid 10/10. We’ll definitely be back! We tried a little of everything! The key to getting a seat with no wait is to get there a few minutes before they open. We had absolutely no wait and dibs of a table. Passed through Mansfield and passed by this adorable place and I have to say I'm so glad that I stopped! I ordered food to take home with me, and after a grueling 6 hour drive, I have to say this is the BEST dumplings and bao buns I've had in a long time! The BBQ pork buns, the soup dumplings, Korean pancakes, the Zhajiang noodles... Everything was absolutely delicious! Please open a location in the future @happybuns 😁 ~ Simone V

We had such a great experience at Happy Buns! Our server was incredibly helpful walking us through the menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. We tried the pork bun, BBQ bun, cabbage, hot and sour soup, and the beef noodle soup (ramen-style) — the handmade noodles were so good. Even our kids enjoyed it, which is always a win. We can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Safe to say we’ll be new regulars 😋 ~ Audra M

Stopped by Happy Buns for a late lunch with my daughter and the food was delicious! We walked right in and was able to be seated pretty quickly. They didn't rush us to take our order and answered our questions easely. We ordered shrimp fried rice, mango boba and chicken dumplings. Everything tasted so fresh and not overly seasoned. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. I plan to return to try something different. ~ Michelle M

This Is my 3rd time here so let me say HAPPY buns puts the HAPPY in they food! Full of flavor in every bite. I love the cucumber smash, it's new but is already a classic stop for me now. The prices are reasonable and I love the insulated to-go bags which takes their customer service another knotch for me! And I've been to steak houses that don't do that. Shout out to Gilbert M for being a wonderful server as well. ~ ashley p
